The last of a generation is gone:

Today I'm sad, for the last of my grandmothers siblings have passed on.

CC-I did not see this until

CC-I did not see this until today, I am so sorry for your loss.

It is hard to see a member

It is hard to see a member of "The Greatest Generation" go.  I hope you have many good memories of her, and that you can encourage her family members to write down their stories, feelings and thoughts about her.

I have some things written by my grandfather's mother and they are priceless family stories.

Sorry for your family's loss, CC.

Last night, 16, itty bitty

Last night, 16, itty bitty and I went to the showing.  It was good to hear her daughter Frankie Ann and my aunt Hazel talking about their childhood days together, with my granny and Aunt Jennie.  When Granny was 15, and Jennie was just shy of 17, they went to Scottsville Kentucky and married my grandfather and his brother Frank.  They were all very close during their lifetimes, even though both sets of siblings came from rather large families.   I was tickled at one point because Frankie Ann was talking about not knowing who all the great-great nieces and nephews were after I reintroduced her to 16.  She said...Oh I remember her.  Not that she remembered her personally, but her name.  Aunt Jennie used to comment on us from time to time.  The part that tickled me was when Frankie was trying to remember my oldest girl's name.  I repeated it, and she said, Yes!  Mama used to talk about her all the time.  LOL  It wasn't until I stopped at the cemetery last night to visit Uncle Frank, Granny, Grandaddy and my sons (before the place would be overrun with people today) that I realized why Aunt Jennie had a reason to remember my oldest.   She was born on the wedding anniversary of both my grandparents and my aunt and uncle.  AND my oldest girls name is Jennifer, when she was baby, we also called her Jenny.  It's nice to see the connections that were made and held by the family over the years, especially with families growing so far apart these days.
