Voting

As an American, and especially as a woman, I appreciate my right to vote.  There aren't many things that get me more incensed than people who don't exercise their right to vote.  However, there is one.....uneducated voters!  People died to give us the right to vote and, to me, it's a slap in the face to those people to go to the polls and vote in ignorance, just as much as it is, if not more, than to not vote at all!

I just got off the phone with my 60 year old mother.  My mother never watches the news, doesn't talk to many people, but has decided she's not voting for Barack Obama because he's a Muslim, because he snubbed some soldiers in Afghanistan, you name it, she's not voting for him because of all the bull e-mails she's received from people who can't come up with any concrete reason not to vote for Obama.  I've told her repeatedly about Snopes and begged her to go look up the facts instead of believing those stupid e-mails.  When she refused to look the stories up herself, I told her what Snopes said.  Has she ever gone to McCain or Obama's websites and read their platforms?  Of course not!  That makes too much freaking sense!  I said, "Mom, go to both candidates sites and read their platforms.  Then read about their voting records.  Then decide who you want to vote for."  That, I can respect!

The latest in these e-mails attempting to damage Obama is the one about him removing the American flag from his campaign jet.  The e-mail starts out something about "If you're proud of America and it's flag, forward this e-mail, blah, blah, blah....."  Big, fat, hairy deal!  So he took off North American Airline's logo and put on his campaign logo.  Do you see an American flag on McCain's jet???  No.  Who cares?  Sheesh!  When someone comes up with something about Obama that looks worse than four more years of the cluster we've been going through for the past eight, let me know!  I guess this is the type of crap people resort to when they're desperate to make someone look bad.  I'm not ashamed of my country or it's flag, but I am ashamed at how this country's been run for the past eight years and I'm ready for a change!

"What you won't hear from this campaign or this party is the kind of politics that uses religion as a wedge, and patriotism as a bludgeon -- that sees our opponents not as competitors to challenge, but enemies to demonize." – Barack Obama, June 3, 2008

Unfortunately 'sippi, this

Unfortunately 'sippi, this is a right wing ploy that they spend great deals of money researching and perfecting as a tool of their elections. Their constituents know this and will not call them to task over this sewer level politics. Another reason I have so very little respect for this group of people as a whole. It is truly sad!
