If the Herald Bulletin can

If the Herald Bulletin can control user accounts - shouldn't they be able to hand over the EMAIL ADDRESS of the 'anonymous' poster in question? I would think it would take, but a phone call.

Also note that Paul Baylor mentions it's in the HeyMartha TOS or privacy that people shouldn't expect privacy.

Man, I wish Indiana allowed cameras in the courtroom. (I know they did a pilot test, but I haven't heard anything about it in a while...)

Your thoughts?

I hope the Baylors prevail

I hope the Baylors prevail in their libel suit.  There's been way too much of that type of thing allowed to go on on the CNHI forums, against myself included.

Go, Paul!!!

Thanks, ReJean. Sippy -

Thanks, ReJean.

Sippy - Exactly. Here at AFP I like to think we have multiple pairs of eyes watching the forums for stuff that crosses the line.

I do wonder if I should bring up the fact that I (like all websites) track IP numbers and have an email address with the account - info I'd have to give if the courts asked. And, if I do change the privacy policy - what's the best way to let all the member's know?

I don't think you really

I don't think you really could change that policy, even if you wanted to.  If someone commits libel and you get a subpeona, I don't see how AFP could make a policy that would defy a court order.

Exactly. Put I should point

Exactly. Put I should point that out so people don't *assume* they'll be protected in that fashion?
