Farm Bureau Convention to take place in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, IN - Indiana Farm Bureau is taking its annual convention to Evansville while the new Indiana Convention Center is under construction.
“With the construction, we have the opportunity to take the convention to another area of the state temporarily,” said Kim Vail, director of organizational development for IFB. “Evansville has remarkable facilities to host our convention this year.”
The convention will run Dec. 4-6, 2008. Most convention activities will take place at The Centre in downtown Evansville, with a few at the nearby Executive Inn.
Keynote speakers include economist Jeff Thredgold on Thursday, Dec. 4 and farm broadcaster Orion Samuelson on Saturday, Dec. 6. Award-winning entertainer Sandi Patty will perform her Christmas program the evening of Dec. 5.
Several new activities have been added to the convention, including bus tours of Angel Mounds and Newburgh, New Harmony and the Port of Indiana at Mt. Vernon.
Breakout sessions will be held throughout the convention. Topics include the I-69 extension, farmland assessment, choosing the right HVAC system for your home, a review of the 2008 election and using new media, among others.
The convention moves to Fort Wayne in 2009.
