Wow. Great day. This blog is a place for me to collect my thoughts and notes about covering Character Counts Celebration today.
- Turnout was good. I heard around 5,000 people attended?
- I was running a little behind because of some banking errands (anyone have suggestions on a good local bank?)
- My shoulder hurts! I lugged a couple stacks of papers around to pass out.
- At one point I was shooting video AND taking pics at the same time. Heh.
- Thanks to the person who took the ribbon cutting picture.
- Thanks to Councilman Eicks for the ride back to my car to get more papers!

My joke for the day...
I told people that to continue with my effort for 'covering events' on my own that next time I would bring a canvas and easel and PAINT the scene as well. ;)
A couple people found it funny.
Was nice meeting some AFP member's out there today as well. Some for the first time in person.
The Herald Bulletin Homepage 6:18 p.m.
Meanwhile, photos are ready to be uploaded to AFP, two small stories have been started and the video is downloaded from the camera.
Great job kpaul ! We wanted to attend but had a prior commitment . That doesn't matter now because we have the story and pictures thanks to AFP . I am glad the event was so well attended .

Just noticed the HB has the beginnings of their gallery up...
Story about the hanging in Pendleton too - that may be why they don't have anything on Character Counts yet.
And, thanks, teb1954! It was quite a task, but I'm happy with what I was able to do. Working on video next.
Still have pages to do, but maybe I'll cram that in tomorrow. Heh.
Ok, I think I'm going to take a little break and have the rest of the great Tommy J's pizza leftover from last night. (Shameless plug. ;)
Here is your shot at giving them a real plug . Where are they located ? ( I really don't know ) I am always looking for a good pizza .
