ANDERSON, IN - According to a news release from Bisrat G. Meskel, Anderson’s postmaster, letter carriers in Anderson and Madison County will make their appointed rounds to deliver mail today.
The United States Postal Service requests your help in clearing snow ice from the approach to your mailbox. Delivery service may be delayed or curtailed whenever streets or walkways present hazardous conditions for letter carriers or when snow is plowed against mailboxes.
- If you receive delivery of mail to a rural mailbox, keep the approach and exit clear of snow. Clear around the box to allow carrier to drive up, deposit mail and drive away.
- At your residence, keep the path to your mail box or slot clear as well as steps and porches.

It's funny how they can make their way to your box to leave you a nice little note saying" clear a path to your mailbox" then not leave your mail.
We don't have sidewalks, but we do have a path cleared for them. FYI, post office maybe deciding to going to a 5 day delivery service.....3 day would fine with me.
where'd you hear that?
no mail for me today and i'm waiting on a check :(
Channel 13 news just a few minutes ago.
thanks. i'm wondering why my sis hasn't said anything. she works hard out there in weather like this....
1. Clear mail box path near road
2. Watch plow throw snow on mail box
3. Clear mail box path again near road
4. Watch plow again
5. Repeat
6. Do happy dance when mail carrier comes delivers mail safely
7. Go get the bills
, fall on ice , roll down drive, enter home and write bills.

We cleared a path in our yard and the neighbors yard and we still did not get any mail. I did see him drive through the neighborhood.
The mail truck would not have been able to park safely on my street. I didn't expect to see any mail today, As deep as the snow was in my area. It is going to be really hard to get it delivered. One minute they have a clear sidewalk the next they have to go through 12 inches of snow and into the street. The post office can just leave all my junk mail and just deliver the important things, unless of course you really like the junk mail..lol
Sis said it depended on shape of streets today for the most part, I guess. Being a dead-end, I wasn't on the list today for being plowed. ;)
Neighbors were all out and about and most of us got it done, though.
Kudos to all the mail carriers out there! I had some pics of an Elwood carrier a couple years back in the snowstorm... can't remember the date off hand. This is a hard time for them, though. (My nightly walk took a little longer tonight... )
Anyway, she also said they've been expecting the word about the 5 day thing for a while ... will cut down on costs tremendously...
