City of Anderson No Longer Accepting Employment Applications

ANDERSON, IN - The City of Anderson, facing a budget shortfall of $2.5 million for 2009 as a result of property tax caps enacted by House Bill 1001, and the resulting reduction in force of City employees, will no longer accept applications for employment.

Steve Priser, Director of Human Resources for the City, explained that warmer weather traditionally brings additional employment opportunities through temporary, seasonal employment, especially in the fields of Parks and Recreation and Street Departments, but that this year would be different.

"Anderson, like other cities throughout the State, is facing the necessity of layoffs," he said, "Rather than bringing in new employees, existing employees will fill the demands of vacant positions."
