May 16, Indiana: New Novel H1N1 Flu Cases Confirmed

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Indiana State Department of Health reports 15 new confirmed cases of the novel H1N1 flu in the following counties: Daviess (1), Lake (5), Marion (8), and Tippecanoe (1). 

This brings the total number of cases of the novel H1N1 flu in Indiana to 86, with the following county breakdown:

  • Daviess (1)
  • Elkhart (2)
  • Hamilton (1)
  • Hendricks (1)
  • Lake (22)
  • Madison (1)
  • Marion (46)
  • Porter (4)
  • Putnam (3)
  • St. Joseph (2)
  • Tippecanoe (3)

The breakdown of confirmed cases by age group (years), include:

  •  0-4 (17)
  • 5-24 (55)
  • 25-64 (14)
  • 65+ (0)

There have been three reported hospitalizations associated with the novel H1N1 influenza A virus in Indiana. All three have been discharged from the hospital and are now symptom-free. There are currently no reporteddeaths associated with the novel H1N1 influenza A virus in Indiana.

The Indiana State Department of Health will report any new confirmed cases of H1N1 by 10:00 a.m. each day.  Consumers can visit the www.IN.gov/flu for more information about the novel H1N1 outbreak.
