120 Novel H1N1 Flu Cases Confirmed in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - On Friday, May 22, 2009, the Indiana State Department of Health reported 14 new confirmed cases of the novel H1N1 flu in the following counties: Lake (4), Marion (9), and Monroe (1).

These 14 new cases bring the total number of confirmed cases of the novel H1N1 flu in Indiana to 120, with the following county breakdown:

  • Daviess (1)
  • Elkhart (2)
  • Hamilton (2)
  • Hendricks (1)
  • Lake (37)
  • Madison (1)
  • Marion (63)
  • Monroe (1)
  • Porter (4)
  • Putnam (3)
  • St. Joseph (2)
  • Tippecanoe (3)  

The breakdown of confirmed cases by age group (years), include:

  •  0-4 (21)
  • 5-24 (80)
  • 25-64 (18)
  • 65+ (1)  

There are no newly reported hospitalizations associated with the novel H1N1 influenza A virus in Indiana.  Since April 20, 2009, there have been five (5) reported hospitalizations and no reported deaths associated with the novel H1N1 influenza A virus in Indiana 

The Indiana State Department of Health will report any new confirmed cases of H1N1 by 10:00 a.m. each day.  Consumers can visit the www.IN.gov/flu for more information about the novel H1N1 outbreak.
