Update: Shooting Leaves Three Injured

ANDERSON, IN – Just before 9 p.m. (May 23, 2009), police were called to the Westvale Manor Apartments (W. 22nd and Fulton Streets) to investigate a shooting.  According to witnesses, two men were arguing in the parking lot and shortly thereafter numerous shots were fired. 

One of the men climbed back into a car driven by his pregnant girlfriend, 18-year-old Nequana Durham.  Seconds later, the suspect is believed to have fired a volley of gunshots at the car.  Another couple seated in the backseat was also struck by the hail of bullets fired from an assault rifle. 

Durham, who is seven months pregnant, was taken to St. John’s Hospital and later transferred to Methodist Hospital where she is reported in stable condition.  Adrienne Jones, 16, was struck in the knee and her boyfriend, Antwaun Moody, 16, suffered a gunshot wound to the left foot.  Moody was treated locally at Community Hospital and Jones was taken to St. John’s Hospital and later transported to Methodist Hospital for additional treatment. 

Investigators believe they know the identity of the 18-year-old shooter, but he remains at large.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call (765) 648-6775 or Crime Stoppers at 649-8310.  Tips may also be sent via e-mail message to crimestoppers@cityofanderson.com.
