Pence Statement on Father's Day

WASHINGTON, DCU.S. Congressman Mike Pence released the following statement on Father’s Day:

“It has been said that 'a father is someone who carries pictures in his wallet where his money used to be.' During these trying economic times, it is important to keep in mind the people who are most important to us. Those of us who were fortunate enough to have loving fathers, know of the sacrifices they made as they poured themselves into our lives.

“My father, Edward J. Pence, has been gone for more than 20 years, but he is still a part of my life. His values, his love, his devotion to family are still lodestars for me. I miss him and am grateful to him every day.

“On this Fathers’ Day, as we honor our fathers for their love and sacrifice, let us strive to make this world a better place for our children and our children’s children.  Let future generations look back on the fathers of today and honor us for making the tough decisions and not passing along our problems to them.

“I commend those men who work tirelessly to provide for their loved ones and want to wish them a Happy Fathers Day.”
