I think Anderson needs some new businesses to see how many great people live in (and around) Anderson, and are willing to work hard.

I think Anderson is a very nice small town. It is one of the better places we have lived. Everything you need is right here.they have two hospitals, good bus service and lot of shopping places.you don't have to go 20 miles to get what you need, just 3 to 5 miles.

Draw back is there is not a lot of good paying jobs, but there is lot of hope for that to change in near future. winters are bad here if you dont like snow. Some of the people here are hard to get to know, but ones that i have talked to seam very nice. There signs that there is  drug use around  but that is going on everywere.

I think Anderson has a great future or i would not of moved here. look  what has happened in the last few year. Nestles moved a plant here and now talk of Bright having there new car made here.

I am not sure what I think about Anderson.  We are in the same situation as many other cities and towns across America.  The jobs are just not there.  Even with a college education, it is hard to find a job.  Used to be, people would go into teaching or nursing fields, but anymore even those positions are having lay-offs.  Schools are being closed all over and teachers are losing their jobs.  Health care is getting too expensive and people are just not going to doctors or hospitals anymore...they can't afford medications because the drug companies just keep increasing their prices.

I agree with J4F though that Anderson does need some new businesses....and not just more restaurants.  And we need businesses that will hire local people and not bring in their own people or hire out of the county.  Give people here a chance.....I know how hard some people have trying to find a job because of their past...why not find somebody that will give these people a second chance.  Not all felons are bad people..they are good people who have made a mistake in life and paid for it. Some employers have passed up having a good employee because they look at the felony part of the application and then throw it away with out even asking the person about it.  Give people a chance.  Companies say they want experienced people, but yet they are not willing to hire someone to give them the experience.  I have been looking for a job in the Criminal Justice field because that is what I am in college for.  But since I do not have any experience, I don't get hired.....or they look at my age.  Us older folks need an income too.  Most restaurants want young teeneagers that only want to work a few hours at a time...that way they get some kind of tax break or something.  When they don't hire an older worker, they may be missing out on a good employee.

Okay..I have said enough.  See how many disagree with me now!!

I think Anderson needs to have their Light and Power department do more demonstations about how dangerous electricity is for the schools. I only came to this conclusion after listening to one of the boys from church talking about how "cool" it was when a can fell from the pole in front of his house and went off like "fireworks" and if it had not been storming he would have gotten closer to see it. I know that they do demonstrations (or at least used to) but this kid did not even know you are never to touch a wire that is on the ground! I would love to see the commercials back on tv, especially since we have had some big(ger) storms lately, but that was not Anderson that did those, I think IPL but I was young back then.
