American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis receives United Way of Madison County certification
ANDERSON, IN - The board of directors of United Way of Madison County approved certification for the American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis at its July meeting. The certification, recommended by the United Way of Madison County’s Community Impact Committee, may be retained through 2011 as long as the organization is in compliance with certification standards and the terms of the certification agreement. Only certified agencies may apply for direct program funding from United Way of Madison County, although certification does not guarantee funding.
The standards-based model for certification was implemented in 2002 to provide accountability to United Way donors and the general public for funds that are managed by United Way of Madison County. The 15 certification standards have been designed to insure that an organization’s mission, governance, fiscal and human services management, and programming are aligned with United Way’s mission and strategic direction.
The American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis serves Boone, Clinton, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Morgan and Shelby counties. In addition to disaster response, the Greater Indianapolis Red Cross provides emergency communication and support to the Armed Forces, transportation to medical appointments in Marion and Hamilton Counties, first aid at community events, youth education and volunteer disaster response training.
