Pokagon SP Angola Police Bicycle Rodeo, Aug. 1

ANGOLA, IN - If you have ever wanted to participate in a rodeo but don't have a horse, here's your chance. The Angola Police Department's bicycle patrol unit is hosting a bicycle rodeo at Pokagon State Park, Aug. 1. Boys and girls of all ages are encouraged to attend.

The bicycle rodeo is a skills event that provides an opportunity for bicyclists to become better and safer riders. The rodeo is a fun way to learn, practice and demonstrate bicycle-handling skills in a noncompetitive atmosphere.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own bicycles.  The Trading Post Campers Store in the park has a limited number of bikes for rent. Bikes will be rented on a first-come, first-served basis. Bicycle helmets are required.  A limited number of helmets have been donated for use by the Angola Wal-Mart. Bicycles must be checked for safety prior to entering the rodeo. .

The bicycle rodeo takes place from 10 a.m. to noon in the south beach parking lot. Prior registration is not required. Refreshments will be provided by the Fraternal Order of Police.

There is no fee for the program. Park entrance fees of $5 per vehicle for Indiana residents and $7 per vehicle for non-residents will apply.
