State Police Conclude Annual School Bus Inspections
PENDLETON, IN - Several teams of Indiana State Troopers and State Police Motor Carrier Inspectors assigned to the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) completed the state mandated annual school bus inspections for the Pendleton State Police District.
The Indiana State Police Department is tasked with conducting annual inspections of almost 15,000 school buses. School buses which are 12 years old or older are required to be inspected every six months. Ninety nine buses fall in the 12-year plus category in the Pendleton District.
A total of 1,121 school buses were inspected in the Pendleton State Police District which encompasses Hamilton, Hancock, and Madison counties. Indiana State Police Senior Trooper Amy Gaul, who headed up the inspection team for the Pendleton District stated, “The majority of buses that were put out of service were repaired on the spot immediately by the school mechanics and put back in service.” Gaul went on to state, “All the buses have passed the inspection process and have a current annual school bus inspection sticker-2009-2010. Our goal is to keep our most precious commodity safe-our children.”
The Indiana State Police is committed to school bus safety. If your school would like a school bus safety program you can contact Sergeant Mike Burns, Pendleton Post, at (800) 527-4752. There are two excellent videos that pertain to bus safety that can be shown along with the presentation.|
