NEWS IN THE NIGHT 08-26 -09

It was a pretty busy morning for both APD and AFD. They are still busy as I am doing this. Here is what I have for you this morning.

3:16  APD was sent to Prairie Farms dairy on Broadway to do periodic checks. They said that a male (race unknown) wearing a black button type shirt was walking around. He had came from Eva's and was now walking around Prairie Farms.

3:17 APD was sent to Red Lobster for a Sonitrol alarm. They were quickly disregarded.

3:37 Engine 6, Ladder 8, Engine 2, Medic 2 (which was quickly switched with Medic 3) Rescue, Unit 20 Structure fire 2600 block of Delaware. It was called in by the occupants first and quickly called in by 2 neighbors. Everyone got out okay. One of the callers said that the house was fully engulfed. It did not seem to take AFD long to get it under control and then put out. Red Cross was called for as it displaced 2 adults and an 18 year old teenager. Also called out to this were  an investigator, A scene tech (from APD), a building commissioner.   I am sure that they had a dog out there also. One of the firemen said that they lost about everything.

3:45 APD was sent out to 2620 e 38th to the Delphi plant 20. The caller said that the gate was open and it is always locked. I think that it checked out okay.

  3:51 Medic 2 person ill 3000 w 38th.

3:53 APD was sent to Red Lobster again for a Sonitrol glass breakage alarm. One Officer spoke up and said that dispatch should call the alarm company and tell them that there is a power washing crew ou there washing all of the building and this is what probably set it off.

4:01 Ladder 1 assist Medic 2 for lifting assistance in the 3000 block of w 38th.

4:39 APD scene tech was sent to the fire scene in the 2600 block of Delaware.

5:32 APD was sent to the 1500 block of Romine rd for a red vehicle parked in their driveway and they did not know who it was. The woman said that it had been there about 15 minutes.

5:34 Engine 7 public service 1700 block of Merrimac.

5:58 ATTENTION ALL UNITS! A possible drunk or confused driver on e 8th st in front of the Madison County federal credit union keeps turning around in the street and now the caller said that it has stopped in the middle of 8th st.  It was a light colored Buick that headed west on 8th st.

   6:00 Engine 7, Medic 1 person ill 2600 block of e 7th.

About 6:08 an APD officer spotted what he believed to be the confused driver in the area of the First Baptist church on Raible ave. The dispatcher said that the driver was suspended and a habitual offender with a lot of points ( I thought that I heard her say 80). It was quickly apparent that the driver had hit something in the area and that the officer felt the driver was intoxicated. He and his car were hauled off!

And that was all for this morning. Have a great day!
