Home Invasion Leads to Arrest of Local Man
ANDERSON, IN – Just after noon on Thursday, January 21, 2010, Anderson Police were called to 512 Marine Drive to investigate an attempted robbery. According to 50-year-old Jeff Kemerly, he answered a knock at the door only to be met by a gun being shoved in his face. Kemerly and the gunman struggled briefly over the handgun before the gunman gained control and struck Kemerly in the head with the weapon.
Kemerly was able to escape while the gunman ran inside and confronted Kemerly’s girlfriend, Diana K. Harmon, and his brother, Charlie Kemerly. The gunman turned his attention to Harmon grabbing her and demanding money. The elder Kemerly used the opportunity to flee where he was able to notify police. The gunman would eventually flee the home where he ran northbound from the home.
Officers responding to the scene encountered 18-year-old Marcus J. Peoples at 27th and Morton Streets. Peoples, dressed in clothes matching the description provided by the victims, attempted to pull the handgun as officers approached him, and was forcibly taken into custody by police. Positively identified by all three victims, Peoples is charged with felony offenses including; burglary, battery, confinement, attempted robbery and resisting law enforcement.
The investigation into the attempted robbery continues, and additional details will be made available as they become known.

If someone knows the answer, do we as taxpayers help this guy as well as the babys parents with Attorney costs for Public Defenders?
If so, IMO we should be able to choose....................
Same thing happened to us a few years ago, a knock at the door & then the thug forced his way in once the door was opened.
It was the closest I've ever come to taking another persons life, fortunately the thug kept his hands where I could see them & followed my instructions, strangely enough the only thought in my head at the time was "I sure hope I don't have to kill this assclown in front of my daughter".But you were thinking "I can protect my daughter" that is the main thing!
Yea I really didn't want to kill him & thankfully he didn't want to die.
There was a moment there though that I thought he was going to try something stupidly suicidal but I think that the little red dot dancing around in the middle of his chest made him rethink whatever it was that he was planning.
You must have great persuasion techniques!

Well I am just glad that it worked out the way it did, I don't know if the guy was going to rob us or rape us or murder us or what.
Peoples is well known to A.P.D.
At 18 years old he should not be well known to APD, imo!
That is the Cottages of Anderson for you. It just keeps going farther and farther down hill under the new management. So glad I am out of there.
