He is adorable!!! I wish I had room for one more but I already have 2 cats, a dog, rabbit, and a hamster...lol
Speaking of dogs, my sister is moving out of state and they have a 5 month old male full blooded AKC registered bassett hound named "Wilie" they are trying to find a home for.
He is house broken and very lovable. If they cannot find a home for him, he will have to go to the pound. He is great with other animals too. His ears are so long, they drag the floor...haha
If anyone knows of a good home for "Willie", let me know.

I will have to take one of him next time I visit. He is very chatty for a dog too. Not in a barking manner but he loves to communicate with little noises and sounds and he looks at you with those big droopy eyes...lol
Wickey, I have a cousin that lives a couple hours north of me who loves bassett hounds! They have two and they are like their children. I think you said your sister's moving to Alabama. If you'd like, I can call my cousin and see if she'd be interested in Willie. I know she'd hate to know a bassett hound was going to the pound. Do you think your sister would be willing to bring him to Alabama?
BTW, kpaul, I love that your posting these dogs who need adopting. What a sweet thing for you to do!

When my lab/boarder collie mix got out of the back yard a few years ago and didn't return, we got very worried.
He was a 12 year old dog with a bad limp due to bad hips. I called the shelter numerous times but nobody would ever answer.
I finally got someone to answer about 2 days after he went missing and aksed them if he was picked up. He had his collar with his name, address, phone number and his city license tag with his ID number. I was informed that he was not there.
Well I had a gut feeling so I drove over there and sure enough, there he was coward in the corner and terrified.
I was furious!!! I was even more furious when I explained to the lady in the back that I had called about him and was told not 30 mins ago that he was not there. She informed me that is a common occurance at the shelter.
It was a miracle that I didn't get the police called on me that day because I went off in a big way and caused quit a scene.
I could have understood if he had no identification but he had 2 forms of ID and they would have more than likely killed him even though this was a loved family pet of 12 years.

This was under the former administration there, then? I'm hearing there were a lot of problems.
The phone message I heard today mentioned that it's best to come in because they have so many dogs, but I agree with you that if she had tags, etc., they should have let you know.
Personally, I think we should keep our eye on the animal shelter, but also give them time to fix problems from the past. (Having the 'after hours animal drop-off' seems like a horrible problem they fixed...)
Also, as CF has noted somewhere, we should also try to help out the Humane Society and others who are trying to help animals w/out money from the city.
Thanks for relaying the incident, though, Miss_Wickey.

I'll try to get some more info next week. Mr. Russell was in a meeting when I first called. I'll try to track down the correct info, though.
