ANDERSON, IN - On Monday, February 4, 2008, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Sergeant Jeff Zeiger of the Indiana State Police Pendleton Post, clocked a vehicle southbound on Interstate 69 in Madison County at 97 mph near the 40 mile marker.
An earlier dispatch from the Redkey State Police Post advised there
was a red 2006 Jeep Cherokee with no license plates driving southbound
Interstate 69 in Delaware County at a high rate of speed.
Sergeant Zeiger caught up with the vehicle at the 27 mile marker and pursued the vehicle with his red lights and siren on as the driver of the Jeep Cherokee continued southbound passing vehicles on the right and left shoulders of Interstate 69.
The Jeep Cherokee ran out of fuel at the 24 mile marker. While the passenger exited the vehicle and was handcuffed by Zeiger, the driver of the vehicle continued to attempt to restart the vehicle and ignored Sergeant Zeiger’s verbal commands to exit the vehicle.
After an approximate five minute stand-off, the driver exited the vehicle and was arrested. The passenger was ultimately not charged and was released.
