Corrugated Industry Expanding in Anderson

ANDERSON, IN - MSI, a company that opened in 2006,
is moving in a direction that will bring aspects of the corrugated industry and
bulk powder fluidization to Anderson within two years.

MSI’s parent company is Mühlen Sohn
GmbH of Blaustein, Germany. At present,
MSI services and sells products in
the United States that are manufactured in
Germany. Those products include belts
that are utilized on a corrugator that makes corrugated sheets, as well as
Fluitex® Aeration fabrics that are utilized in the cement, and other industries,
where bulk powders are pneumatically conveyed.

The
first step in the company’s growth, said General Manager Dick Wohlberg, is its
purchase this week of the building at 4640 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Boulevard. The goal is to manufacture
MSI’s brands of corrugator belts
and fluidizing fabrics in Anderson. This will require the
installation of up to three looms within the next two to four
years.

“MSI’s growth provides opportunity
for an entirely new industry in Anderson,” said Wohlberg. “We already
have in place in the United
States a service and sales network,
but the manufacture of these heavy fabrics in Anderson will require support businesses
in the area. We hope those support businesses will locate in
Anderson when the time
comes.”

Wohlberg also thanked the city
of Anderson’s outside salesman Greg Winkler
for bringing together MSI and First Industrial Trust,
owners of the building. “We have found this building at
4640 King
Boulevard to be in a great location and
there is room to expand,” he said. “Mr. Winkler and Mayor Kevin Smith have been
extremely responsive to MSI’s business needs, whenever we
have asked.”

MSI is actively involved in
industrial development with I Power Energy Systems and the two companies will
continue to work together to develop business for
Anderson, Wohlberg said.
