Anderson Area News Report

To be honest, I'm not sure what to think about this yet. I didn't watch the whole thing. Can someone fill in the details?

I wish I had the 8 minutes back. What is the purpose of this? It looks like a middle school project.

Spotlight on CWA Local 4900

This week’s spotlight is on the Communications Workers of America Local 4900 in Indiana. This local is stepping up to fight not only for the Employee Free Choice Act, but also for a fair contract of their own from AT&T.

Members have not had a contract for over 9 weeks now and the company is asking workers to increase their contributions for healthcare from 8% to 23-25%. The local did not ask for wage or benefits increases, but only to maintain the agreement they already had with AT&T.

“What AT&T is proposing would cancel out 20 years of collective bargaining in one swoop,” explained Local 4900 President Tim Strong, “ and we will not accept that from a company who made $15 billion dollars last year and $3 billion in the first quarter of this year.”

In the event of CWA calling a strike against At&t, folks like these will be doing the work.

With 6 whole weeks of training under their climbing belts!

Good luck and may High Speed be with you! Vid...
